I'm not done...

I did it...I've completed all the assignments for this class...Believe me, I am glad to be done with "assignments" but I'm strangely saddened thinking of this as the end of my "tech lessons". Some of these assignments took me a LONGGGGG time to complete but now that I've completed them all, I feel a little empowered. A little more tech savy...A lot more knowledgeable. I was just asked the other day if I thought I would even use these things in a Pre-K-3 class, and I answered truthfully, that YES I will use them AND the students and parents will like them too!
So, I'm not done being tech savy. I've promised myself to keep current on the Web 2.0 technologies and to jump in to them with both feet..no more putting off learning something new due to fear. Maybe one day people will come to me to get their computer problems solved!!

So many to choose from......

I've really enjoyed the Wiki assignment. After have some initial problems editing, I found the technology very user friendly. It reminds me of a blog due to the ability to comment, but with the option to edit the info itself!
What I really liked though was just looking through all the emergent technologies. So many to choose from! I do realize that some just won't be appropriate or useful in a Pre-K through 3 classroom. There were many that I had no idea what they were about and I browsed their link or read the Wiki posts about them. I would be able to use quite a few in a classroom with young students such as: Timetoast, Virtual Field Trips, Woordle, Digital Storytelling, & RealeWriter. I think that it would take some time and effort to incorporate lessons into the technology, but I think the results would be positive.

OK.....so am I making this Kidspiration assignment too hard??Seems like it is taking me way to long to produce this! But I am determined to finish it this week and begin the next assignment. While I am not sure that PreK through 3 students would really be able to navigate this tool without ALOT of help, I'm sure they would have fun just creating pages...I like the idea of it and maybe with much modeling, older students may be able to create a simple web or character map.

So far so good....I can see that some of the upcoming assignments will be a lot more time consuming and detailed, so I want to get going on them! I have 2 field experiences starting in February and want to be ahead on due dates. I enjoyed creating the newsletter, even though I had to make up info since I am not teaching right now. It helped me gain more insight into Word...do things on there I haven't done before. I'm glad I am gaining practical experience from these assignments and I hope that my limited computer abilities grow and grow and grow!
